Domestic violence is a major health risk to the Victorian community. Till now, the focus has been to put the onus on the women. However, the focus away from the male who is the person misbehaving. Men, not the women need to feel the consequences of their bad behavior.

Society must no longer make excuses for violence against women.

There needs to be programs in place that can help males when there is a risk of them being violent.

David Dippie

David Dippie from Donations in Kind spoke about the ongoing opt in Balibo project.

This project is run in partnership with DIK and any clubs that wish to participate.  Timor Leste has been chosen as it is the poorest nation in our region by far and therefore where we can be most effective, DIK ship regularly to the area and now have a team of locals on the ground to assist with implementation.

ROMAC

17th November-ROMAC- Speaker-Raelene Hunt

Rotary Oceanic Medical Aid to Children (ROMAC) was began in 2007 by Barry Cooper, member RC Kangaroo Flat (outside Bendigo). Mission of ROMAC is to provide life or dignity saving surgery to children in developing countries.  By 2015, 400 children have now been treated. Children are treated in the paediatric ICUs at Monash and Melbourne Children's Hopsital.  All money raised goes to medical costs and none to administration as an invested donation pays for admin.
