In the same way that DIK is the jewel in the crown of International Service, the completed Emergency Relief Network across Melbourne will be the bedrock of collaborative Rotary Community Service, with RIMERN building the bridge between the services in the western and eastern suburbs (WERN & EERN) which I know that you and your members are familiar with.
Now that we have found premises at 32-34 Lincoln Street East Brunswick, the project needs many Rotary clubs' support, both financial and with volunteers, to help in a wide variety of ways, and I hope Carlton will join in!
I'd be happy to address your Club via zoom next tuesday 8th June or at another time, but in the meantime please feel free to share this email with your Board and members, invite them to watch this short video,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ky71PSs9ls read the attached FAQs and the Application for Membership for RIMERN, and let's hope everyone is as excited as we are about the amazing opportunity for hands on service that this project will provide to both current and new members of all the Clubs involved.
In recognition of the fundraising difficulties all Clubs have experienced during covid, the entry level commitment is only $1,000 a year for 3 years, although wealthier clubs have committed a bit more.
We hope to have around 20 Clubs involved, from Districts 9800 and 9790, and having Carlton's support would be fantastic!
You'd be joining Prahran, Albert Park, North Melbourne, Camberwell, Canterbury, Balwyn, Central Melbourne and North Balwyn Rotary Clubs so far, with others both considering membership and yet to be approached.
