Peter Lardner
During his time in the civil litigation unit Peter led a task force dealing with the most significant security breach in the world due to a senior constable at Fitzroy selling police information to drug dealers. He dealt with lots of high risk sensitive information and managed the fallout from risks of managing informers. This gave him credibility within the Vic Police.
Whilst the crime rate has generally dropped the nature of offending has changed. Theft from and of cars is causing problems with around 60,000 incidents a year. The so called Apex gang is not actually a gang but loose networks of youth which is a lot harder to police against. The challenges are to work out how to stop kids from offending as adults, how to identify potential offenders before they offend and to provide a support mechanism.
