Warwick Cavell

Next >

Over the years he has had some interesting assignments, including facilitating the Melbourne Football Club’s strategic plan leading up to the attempted merger with Hawthorn. Also facilitating the Strategic Plan for the CFA.

He is also a Rotarian and is immediate past president of Rotary Central Melbourne, Vocational Chair at his club and is part of the District Learning and Development and Vocational Services Teams.

Warwick explained that the process he would use to help members develop the Plan.  He showed his interpretation of a business model that explains how Rotary operates. He explained that in this model, Rotary is good at recording its actions and achievements, but not so good at demonstrating and telling stories about the impact of these achievements.

He then showed a pro-forma of a simple effective strategic plan, that would be used to help the Club develop its plan.

Warwick posed four key questions, the answers to which will be used in an interactive workshop to develop a draft plan, at the meeting in a fortnight’s time.  These questions are:

  1. What is the context in which the Club operates?
  2. Where do you want/need the Club to be in the future and why?
  3. Where are we now?
  4. How will we address our opportunities and challenges?
