  • Club member, Prakash Raniga to help coordinate a one Fiji club contact whilst on holiday in Fiji
  •  A working bee at DIK West Footscray is planned for Tuesday 22 October 2019
  • Professor to speak at the club on Malaria

PHILIP MORRISSEY, FELLOWSHIP& FUNDRAISING

  • Program compatible with major fundraisers of Bunnings BBQs and annual Book Fair, emailed to members
  • Reported on first two fundraising events: Raffle at Changeover Dinner and Winter Warmer Sunday lunch
  • Next Coming Events: Monday 7 October, Ian Risely Dinner.

Change to Friday 18 October, for An Evening at Michael Elligate’s. Rest of 2019 program remains unaltered

 2020 Sunday 2 February, Pool Party at The Morrissey’s,

April, “Guess who is coming to Dinner” with a Trivia Night in May.

NICK CONSTANCE,  BOOK FAIR CHAIR, CLUB SERVICE

  • Acknowledged PDG Des Jones and President Tony Jorm as founders of the successful Book Fair Project
  • Sought Board determination on the causes to benefit from the 2020 Book Fair Proceeds.
  • Negotiating with City of Melbourne (Kathleen Syme  Library

      & Community Centre) for Thursday before the event access &        

          2pm Friday driveway access for a more efficient and safer Set   

Up preparation.

 

  • 2020 Book fair to be held on Saturday 21 March, 9am-7pm

                                                    Sunday 22 March. 10am- 5pm

  • Book price review to increase return on effort, determined a new category based on those books published within the last three years.($4) Some of higher quality would be placed in the existing $5 and over category
  • City of Melbourne considers the Book Fair as a “Community Health & Wellbeing “opportunity to improve general health and connection to the broader community. We would like to progress this through such things as literacy programs and donating unsold books to disadvantaged groups.
  • Around 6,000 books from previous book fairs remain unsold. Unilodge, 800 Swanston Street Melbourne, house 1.800 students and will conduct an in house book fair on 21 September, 2019 with our support. Proceeds to be divided equally 50/50.  

CASEY TAN for PETER CROUCH, YOUTH SERVICE

  • Lily Vernon, Princess Hill High, selected for January 2020 Melbourne Uni, Phillips Science three day experience.
  • Currently promoting RYLA 7 day Leadership Camp and considering an apprentice award in Carlton
