“Building on the Book Fair”, with possible Community Service projects to Promote Literacy

Tony Jorm was always interested in books as a child and was read to by his Grandma.
This is so important to enable children starting school to get off to a good start.
The Rotary Club of Carlton Book Fair is now its 3^rd A great Club & community event.
We as a Club lack a signature Project. Perhaps we could extend our Fair by supplying books to less developed countries
- Tony sampled rotary Clubs in the English speaking countries with a good response requesting books
Another possibility is to encourage early literacy in Refugee Families. And also partner with local family services agencies.
Discussion was generally positive about exploring these ideas, especially if we can involve local schools etc.
To forward these ideas a separate group in the Club apart from the book Fair Committee needs to be formed.
