President John opened the forum asking for suggestions and feedback from members.
Bob Slater spoke on the expansion of the St. Vincent’s Rehabilitation project
President John reported that bureaucratic obstacles had, so far, prevented the transfer of funds to Afghanistan education projects and solutions were being investigated.
There was discussion on the Rotary Youth Art Project and working with RC Richmond.
Peter Golden reported on the progress of medical supplies to PNG project,.
Friends of Rotary was discussed . The DG is keen to promote this. President John asked for feedback from members as to how this can be explored. Nick Constance said that with reference to the Friends of Rotary some projects have a shortage of “workers” and they could be utilitised and Janet Ferguson added that there would have to be projects in the pipeline to keep Friends of Rotary engaged or they could lose interest. Friends of Rotary could later become members. Betty Kitchener suggested holding a special meeting to sort out suggested activities and an analysis of how to best achieve results.
President John also mentioned that Phil Ellis’s son Dr Mark Francis Ellis has been awarded an AM in the Australia Day Honours
