Our D.G. Peter Freuh met President Norman, the Board and the members this week. Assistant DG, Anne King was also present. D.G. Peter shares with us a story that pretty much summarise what Rotary is all about. Finding a project is all you need to make a difference as an individual, club or internationally with Rotary. He shares the story of the excess linen in pallets from the mining bust that was fret, sorted and distributed to community groups.

Then D.G Peter asked 3 questions to President Norman. Why did you join, do you stay for the same reason and did you influence others to join.

In the District of 2400 members, 300 joined last year or 800 the last 3 years. They were either walking members, tap on shoulder or club looking at a particular type of people.

Peter talked about the work of Rotary Foundation and Rotary Health, the work of PDG Keith from the club does with the global grant scholars and local projects. The District gives $500,000 to the Foundation every year. Every Australian gives $400 on average per year. Cheque, direct deposit or centurion, a coin stacking device that can take $100 in $2 coins. ($2 a week makes $100 for the year), photo below. He talked about our Australian RI President, Ian Riseley and his passion for peace and the environment. He likes planting trees and President Norman was offered a tree.

To conclude, D.G. Peter congratulated the club for a strong history and the challenges to grow in a new demographic. Do a satellite or probis clubs, talk to North Melbourne about satellite club. President Norman mentioned that we have 2 Probis clubs, one created 6 years ago with 120 capped members and one last year with 85 members.

We are invited to join him in Warrnambool for the conference mid March next year. The gala dinner will be on St Patrick's day. First and over 10 years conference attendees will get a discount.
