Ken Woolfe

Ken spends his time these days trying to master laziness, for 88 years he was always in a hurry and laziness is the best thing that has happened to him!  Being "lazy" enables him to listen to his vast music collection (although nothing released before 1960) and reading.  He is currently reading a lot of English history and in particular he is reading about English Prime Ministers.

In 1985 Ken was 57 years old, he believed he had a great life, living on the Boulevard in East Ivanhoe, driving the latest model Mercedes and working in the family business in Cardigan Street.  He was first approached to join Rotary but was not interested, he did not think he had the time.  However, his good friend Neil McGaw was planning on joining, so he came along to an information session to find out more and there he met Harold Richards.

He was put to work getting in touch with the local primary schools, after a visit to Carlton Primary School he realised he had lived a sheltered life and saw the needs of the kids at this school and from this he became very involved in the Caring for Carlton aspect of the club.

Ken was president in 1990/1, the year it was determined to allow women to be members.

Ken also told some yarns about several characters who were members of our club briefly.
