Ian Ada - Club Vision Workshop

Ian Ada  presented the Club Vision prepared by a sub-committee, and reflected on the outcomes of the Visioning Workshop on 15 March. He provided opportunity for comment, particularly from those not able to be present at the workshop.

 The Vision as presented was ‘The Rotary Club of Carlton will build on its strong support for disadvantaged people, both locally and internationally. It will achieve this through valuing the diverse skills and experiences of its members, their connections with each other and with the Carlton community, and highly visible focussed projects.’

The top three priorities in each of the areas depicted in the wall chart prepared by Keith Ryall, as shown in the attached photograph, were highlighted.  Comments received were:

  • Scholarships for a primary school boy and girl, to meet their educational needs through secondary school;
  • Ensure we have a very good understanding of what is happening in the Carlton community so we do not duplicate other efforts;
  • Ensure funds are still provided for major international programs such as malaria
  • Help overcome disadvantage in local schools through support for specialist teaching skills (eg music), which could be provided through in-kind help where possible.

 A Committee of Janet Ferguson, Ian Ada, Craig Chester, Keith Ryall and Kaylene O’Shea will now develop a three year strategy and action plan to achieve this vision, and report back to the Club at regular intervals.
