Melanie Cooke, Anoushka Woolton and Abdi Isse attended lunch on Tuesday 5h February. Melanie is a Clinical Psychologist and Counselling and Youth Coordinator at the Drummond Street Services which has a 124 year history and over the past 40 years has focused on couples and family counselling (primarily funded by the Federal Government’s Family Relationship Services. The services covers all ages, Melanie spoke mainly on services to youth. The services are available to those to live or work in five local government areas, Melbourne, Yarra, Booroondara, Stonnington, and Port Philip. They have two broad themes of : responding to community need and contributing to knowledge base. Melanie outlined a few of their focus groups, such as the Carlton Council estates, transition programs for young people as in moving from primary to secondary school, working with young parents and running a variety of outdoor activities for their young clients.
