However there are still many people in our midst who are seeking to refocus their lives, for whom an organisation such as Rotary can provide a most suitable vehicle.
Key components of an effective Plan are:
- Increase diversity of membership
- Seek to be more reflective of the local community especially in relation to age, gender and ethnic background
- Asking people you know is still a tried and trusted method. Many people say when asked have they considered joining Rotary, answer they have never been asked.
- Develop knowledgeable and committed Rotarians
- Make sure potential new members clearly understand the opportunities that exist, and requirements, in belonging to Rotary
- Ensure new members have a project they can clearly become involved with, and continually become more educated about the organisation
- Support innovative and flexible Clubs
- Investigate alternative meeting times and styles
- Consider the option of a satellite Club that meets at a different time and location, and has a format to suit a new generation of members
- Enhance a recognised and trusted brand
- Send the Club Bulletin to all your contacts in the local community
- Have a brochure that can be handed out at events.
- Have a designated person to speak to people about Rotary at our community events (eg. those in the queue at a Bunning’s BBQ)
- Publicise our activities and projects in the local media
- Create strategic partnerships
- What new groups and organisations at the local level can we partner with to achieve our joint goals
