AG Heritage Cluster Brian Bloomer (RC Canterbury)
Brian’s profession is in IT consulting. He is a Member of the Australian Computer Society and is General Manager, Victoria – Empired Limited delivering IT Management Services, IT products and projects to private enterprise and government clients. He is a member and Past President (2009-10) of the Rotary Club of Canterbury.
Brian is the founder and producer/presenter of the Rotary and Community Service radio show on 3WBC 94.1 FM now with fellow Canterbury Rotarian David Proud, the show began in 2005. Brian said he enjoys doing the program and interviewing guests.
Another interest now is flying. He has had a pilot’s licence since 1979 and one of his flying highlights was being allowed to fly a military aircraft.
Brian met with Carlton’s Board of Directors to see what the Club is doing this year and what are the Club’s Key Objectives. He said Carlton has a good team in place and said he saw as his role as Assistant Governor as a resource the club could use. He said one area this could cover would be as a “bulldozer” for problems when required. He said he would be happy to be involved in club activities and will attend club meetings as and when he is invited. Brian mentioned areas discussed with Board members such as improving communication between Board members and other members, increasing membership, club activities and retention of members. He said he looked forward to attending the club during his year as Assistant Governor.
